Creative Arts Space, Krowji, Redruth.

Krowji is Cornwall’s largest creative hub, providing studios and workspaces for a wide range of creative businesses. The aim of this project is to create more space for the creative industries on a limited budget.

This is being achieved by utilizing the existing concrete slab and foundations present on the site to support the new buildings, which saves both the cost and embodied carbon of new concrete substructure. Giraffe Engineering carried out a series of investigations and analysis of the existing structure to demonstrate its ability to support the new loads.

The superstructure cost is minimised through the use of repurposed shipping containers which are retrofitted with new window and door openings and all the necessary services, ventilation and insulation to provide a comfortable and flexible space for the end users.
