Green Lane Hospital
Giraffe Engineering worked on the expansion of the Bluebell Unit at Green Lane Hospital. This critical project involved creating the Lavender Suite, a specialised Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) "Place of Safety."
The facility is specifically designed to support young people detained under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, providing a secure, therapeutic environment for those in immediate need of care or control following a crisis in a public space.
The renovation transformed existing space within the Bluebell Unit into single-bed suites that prioritise both safety and clinical excellence. This project ensures that patients receive specialized care in a setting that is inclusive, accessible, and purpose-built for their recovery journey.
Working in close coordination with the multi-disciplinary design team, Giraffe Engineering provided a full suite of specialized structural engineering, civil engineering and temporary works design services, enabling construction to proceed on a carefully coordinated live site.
