Miles Andrews
Engineer
MEng (Hons)
Miles joined Giraffe Engineering in January 2023, having graduated with an MEng in Civil Engineering from the University of Bath in 2019. He is currently working towards his professional chartership.
Since joining the practice, Miles has developed a wide and varied base of knowledge, working with all major primary structural materials. He enjoys the variety of his role, delivering projects of all types and scales through every stage—from initial concept right through to construction. This comprehensive exposure has given him a strong grounding in core structural principles and highly practical engineering experience.
He has a particular interest in timber engineering, low-carbon design, and sustainability. In addition to his permanent structural work, Miles has extensive experience in temporary works design, regularly applying this expertise to complex and heritage projects at Giraffe. This background ensures his approach to design is always practical, detail-oriented, and cost-effective.
A strong advocate for mentoring and knowledge sharing, Miles has previously tutored at the University of Bath and plays an active role in training placement students and junior staff within the Giraffe team.
Outside the office, Miles is an avid outdoors enthusiast. Whether he is climbing, tending to his allotment, or training for an ultramarathon, he loves staying active and embracing nature. When he does finally slow down, you will usually find him cooking up a storm in the kitchen or getting involved in a board game.
