Oldfield School, Bath
Oldfield School has an increasingly strong reputation for SEND provision and in particular supporting students with ASD needs. This purpose-built facility provides a dedicated space for learning which will provide the support that they need in a school environment that allows them to access the curriculum and to succeed, establishing a centre of excellence for ASD students and reducing the number of students who have to be placed in specialist provision in BANES. This facility will provide the support that they need in a school environment that allows them to access the curriculum and to succeed.
The superstructure is timber framed with exposed glulam roof beams spanning over the double height classroom spaces with sloping ceilings. We also produced a fully developed scheme design option for a CLT superstructure.
Giraffe Engineering worked with the client, design, and contractor teams to deliver structural and civil design services from planning through to practical completion.
The site is located on a hillside which required particular consideration of site levels, site access and drainage.
