MEng (Hons) CEng MIStructE
Ralph founded Giraffe Engineering in 2016, which has since grown into an award winning practice focused on sustainability, retrofit, and low embodied carbon design. With a track record of delivering hundreds of buildings from small domestic builds to complex, multi million pound private and public sector developments. Ralph brings a wealth of technical expertise to projects of every scale.
Ralph has a particular passion for timber engineering in all its forms. Staying at the forefront of the industry, Ralph works with everything from natural roundwood to precision engineered components, including CLT and dowel-laminated timber. His experience includes several industry firsts, such as the first Brettstapel and dowel laminated buildings in England and Wales, alongside precision engineered straw bale construction.
Dedicated to the structural engineering community, Ralph lectures and tutors at the University of Bath and the University of Bristol. He also co-founded thestructuralexam.com, a training and mentoring organisation that has helped hundreds of civil and structural engineers attain professional chartership.
Outside of work, Ralph embraces the outdoors with enthusiasm. He enjoys running up and down hills ankle deep in mud, though his absolute favourite place to be is kitesurfing on Watergate Bay.
